Hi, I’m Julie! A few years ago, I traded city life for the salty air of the Gold Coast, with my two little dogs happily in tow. Pretty quickly, our days filled up with beach walks, dog park adventures, and sunny strolls by the water. Life was perfect, except for one small thing. Every bag I owned seemed to come home covered in sand, soaked in sea spray, or just looking a little worse for wear.
After searching the shops for something better (and coming up empty-handed), I decided to create my own range of bags that could keep up with coastal living. That’s when I discovered EVA and neoprene totes! The EVA totes became my go-to for the beach: spacious, sand-resistant, and ridiculously easy to clean. Neoprene, on the other hand, was a lifesaver for shopping days at Harbourtown or adventures at the theme parks: lightweight, flexible, and so easy to carry.
Once I started using these bags, I quickly realised they were total all-rounders, not just for the beach! They’ve doubled as my dog toy collection basket, laundry basket, gardening sidekick when weeding the garden, car clean-out bag, and even gym bag. Their secret superpower? That clever free-standing base! Whether it’s a picnic in the park or cheering from the sidelines at a sports game, they stand tall, making it a breeze to grab whatever you need thanks to their wide open top.
The final piece of the puzzle fell into place over fish and chips at Charis Seafood one afternoon. While watching the pelicans gather for their daily feeding, it hit me...my new bags had so much in common with a pelican’s pouch: expandable, durable, water-resistant, and made to handle whatever life throws at them. And just like that, the Pelican Pouch collection was born. Bags designed for real life, with a touch of coastal charm.
